  • Athletic Business published No Longer Sidelined, Competitive Cheerleading Evolves.
  • BET published #BlackGirlMagic Haters: This Teen’s Cheerleading Coach Threatened to Ban Her for Wearing Braids.
  • The Post and Courier published More Than Pom-Poms and Crop Tops: Competitive Cheerleading More Dangerous Than it Looks.

  • KNOP (NE) reported Off-Ground Cheerleading Stunts Allowed at the High School Level.

  • On June 1st the San Jose Mercury News published Cheerleading Would be a Sport Under California Bill.
  • On June 2nd SiouxlandNews.com published Family 411: Cheerleaders Fight Bullying.
  • On June 4th KWCH.com published Law Would Force NY Pro Teams to Pay Cheerleaders.
  • On June 8th USA Cheer announced the 2015 College Stunt All Americans.
  • Also on June 8th FIUSM published Cheerleading Coach Hines Addresses State of Cheer.
  • On June 9th Community News published Here’s Cheers to Lifters.
  • On June 18th Inside Cheerleading Magazine started taking applications for 2015 High School All-American Team. The application deadline is July 3rd.
  • On June 23rd the USASF announced an immediate opening for an Event Safety Administrator for Cheer.
  • On June 24th NJ.com published Not a lot of Support to Make Cheerleading a Sport. and on June 26th NorthJersey.com followed up with Verona, Cedar Grove Officials React to Bill that Could Make Cheerleading an Official Sport.
  • On June 25th Yahoo Australia published The Secret Life of Cheerleaders.
  • On June 27th the Digital Journal published Teenager Maria Moschos Talks About the Sport of Cheerleading.
  • In June the USASF also released the 2015-17 Cheer Safety Rules and the first public draft of the 2015-16 Glossary.

Here are our favorite stories from May:

  • On May 1st the Visalia Times-Delta published California Assembly Bill Would Elevate Cheerleading to a Sport & the following day the San Diego Union-Times published No Need to Make Cheerleading a CIF Sport.
  • Although we haven’t seen an official announcement, it appears there are some promotions at the top of Varsity Spirit. John Newby is moving up to the former Herff Jones part of Varsity and Brian Elza, Tres LeTard, and Leslie Standlee appear to be filling his former role within Varsity Spirit.
  • On May 4th CBS published Herschel Walker’s Son Pursues Competitive Cheerleading.
  • On May 6th NJ.com published Cheerleading an Official High School Sport? N.J. Lawmaker is Rooting for it & on May 10th CBS Local published New Jersey Senators Want Cheerleading Recognized As Varsity Sport.
  • On May 7th the Haverhill Gazette published ‘The Performance of a Lifetime’.
  • On May 8th WBTW published New ‘Stunt’ Sport Takes Off in High Schools as NC Holds 1st Tournament.
  • On May 12th ESPNW published The Greatest Reaction To Making A Cheerleading Squad You’ll Ever See.
  • Also on May 12th School News Network published Competitive Cheerleading a Life-Changer, Team Members Say.
  • On May 19th Cheer Daily published The Heroes of Cheer.
  • Also on May 19th the JAM Brands had the inaugural JAM Brands Judges awards.
  • On May 20th Outsports published Gay Oklahoma Sooner Cheerleader Struggled With Stereotypes Before Coming Out.
  • On May 22nd the USASF announced Dance Coach Credentialing and reminded us about Cheer Coach Credentialing and Safety Judge Certification.

  • On May 28th Abel Rosa was named the Brand Manager of Athletic Championships.
