February came and went, bringing a couple of the largest events of the year with it.

The USASF posted Rules Change Forms for Cheer and Dance, Worlds Score Sheets & Deductions, Young Athlete Scholarship information, and updated National Advisory Boards for Cheer and Dance.
The Orlando Sentinel published Disney’s ESPN Sports Complex to Open Cheerleading Venue.
Opposing Views published #BowsForBoys: School Rallies Around Male Student Who Was Reportedly Denied Lunch Over Hair Bow.
PR Newswire published National High School Cheerleading And Dance Team Championships Attract Record Participation, CHEERSPORT National Championships Attract More Than 1,100 Teams To 20th Annual Event, and NCA & NDA All-Star National Championships Host More Than 1,200 teams and 50,000 Spectators.
The Idaho State Journal published Coach: ‘Cheerleading is in Every Sense of the Word a Sport’.
USA Today published NFL Cheerleaders Scoring Victories in Labor Lawsuits.

The Telegraph published The Rise of Cheerleading in the UK.

Varsity All Star announced the Large Senior division will compete for the 2015 Triple Crown. Specifically Cheer Extreme Senior Elite, Maryland Twisters F5, Stingrays Orange, and World Cup Shooting Stars will compete at Cheersport, NCA, and UCA with the most successful team across the 3 events winning a donation for the cause of their choice.

Last season the Large Coed division was featured with Top Gun taking home the crown.

Observations After Event 12 of 2013-14

Event 12 took me to the largest cheerleading event in the Southeast, maybe the World, and there were some great performances including 1 of the 2 best I’ve seen this season. For the most part it seemed like teams continued to settle into their routines and continued to increase the performance side of things. I’m still seeing some elements that confuse me because they do nothing for the routine, meaning they aren’t level appropriate and do nothing to add to the overall impression, but I don’t coach anymore so maybe they know something I don’t.

On the rules side of things, if you have received a legal ruling from [email protected], you should bring that email to events with you because not having it with you is as useless as not having it at all. I don’t know if you really expect me to believe you when you say “Les said it was legal” without proof or not, but I hope you understand why I won’t just take your word on it.
